Students will get the chance to showcase their dancing skills on April 24 and 25 in the Middle and Upper School Dance Concert. This year, the theme of the dance concert is “In Other Words.” Similar to “Storytellers,” the dancers plan to focus on expressing their stories through movements, rather than words.
Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, as well as the Middle School Advanced Dance class, seven periods in total, will perform 24 dances including the finale.
Junior Abby Haas, a member of the B period Advanced Dance class, has choreographed the dance “Pretty Hurts” and is in multiple dances.
“It’s about how inner beauty is more important. In my dance, everyone wears pageant dresses, but at the end, we take them off to show how pageants are fake and [are] not about beauty on the inside,” Haas said.
“This year, I am in three dances, including the finale,” sophomore Madison Lefler said. “I’m so pumped.”
For the dancers, the concert is something they have all been waiting for.
“For me it’s a way to get over my fear of dancing in front of people, and it’s a great community to be a part of, [dance]” Lefler said.
“I’m excited because everyone gets to see all of the hard work we have been doing all year,” Haas said.
Tickets are on sale for $20; they will be $25 at the door. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night.
